Chiaja Hotel de Charme
Pietro Fusella turned the home of his aristocratic great, great grandfather into charming lodgings with original antiques and furnishings, opening in 2001. Among the many artists and performers who have stayed here are pianist Ludovico Einaudi, choreographer Pina Bausch and dancer Sylvie Guillem. The standout rooms include 114, which features a 1940s leather Poltrona Frau sofa and a four-poster bed, and Superior Rooms 205 (above) and 111, which are decorated with furniture belonging to Fusella's violinist great grandfather. The lounge by the entrance (right) is equally elegant. Part of the hotel was formerly a brothel, La Suprema, and the 1927 price list remains on the wall. A separate exit through which clients used to leave the premises discreetly can still be seen, and rooms in this part of the hotel are named after the prostitutes.
