A two minute walk from Piazza Plebiscito and the Royal
Palace takes you to this hotel in a spruced up i 8th-century palazzo,
part of which was once a brothel. Above the fireplace in the homely
entrance hall is a portrait of the marchese Nicola Le Caldano Sasso
III, origina! owner of the building; her granddaughter Mimi now runs
the piace. Rooms are smail but comfortabie; any sense of claustrophobia
(a hazard with buildings in this old part of town) is offset by the op-
ulent period furnishings. Vouchers for breakfast at nearby Gambri-
